In The Chancel:

In "The History Of The Church And Village Of Spaxton"
(page 189), Michael J. Odium refers to a stone in the floor of the
chancel with the following inscription:
                     
                              "Hic requiescit Henricus Carlile, nuper hujus
                              ecclesiae rector : vir clari nominis, hospitio
                              et charitate insignis, Obiit quinto cal.
                              Novembris, anno 1712, aetat 57"

There was no trace of this stone in 1978
